APW - Hamilton, Grade 951 (marked), 23J, 16S, heavy 14K gold original HC with ornate deeply engraved floral pattern throughout, front shield with initials, fancy bow, gold cuvette, white enamel DS dial, SW-LS, fully capped lever escapement, jeweled barrel arbor, bridge model mvt, striped pattern nickel damascene, s#325422. Gross weight of assembled watch 68.0 dwt (105.6 g). A beautiful example of this top grade Hamilton rarity, the total production of the lever-set Grade 951 was only 97 made. This particular example is listed in the Hamilton factory ledger as being an August 3rd, 1915 sale to the Stein & Ellbogen Co. who were wholesale jewelers based in Chicago, Illinois. CONDITION:
Mvt: Running after a sluggish start, nearly mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright lustrous surfaces, fine scratch to barrel bridge between smaller winding wheel and bridge perimeter, few typical mild micro-fine scratches elsewhere, few mild light spots to plate surfaces, few small bits of oxide to larger winding wheel; dial with faint outer chapter hls at 4 and perimeter of dial at this area with some associated small adjacent fractures and a small edge chip under bezel; excellent hands, some oxide and slight bend to tip of minute; case shows virtually no wear, no dents or dings, superb crisp engraving detail; tight bow, crown shows hardly any wear; good glass crystal.
